Is it really the future? The only active high speed maglev in the world is the one in shanghai which to my knowledge is extremely unprofitable. The Japanese maglev system isn’t expected to open until the mid 2030s by which point the l0s will be over 20 years old. Honestly, maglev systems give me Concorde vibes: superfast travel which everyone thought was the future but ultimately died out.
Nevertheless, both are incredible feats of engineering!
