As we could see in the poster of the Tokyo fair that will be held in May, Thomas & Friends in Japan will look normal for now. However, the question is what will happen when the new series starts playing in Japan. Then there will most likely be a change, and new, terrifying AI robot faces will be introduced. I guess Plarail will only change the faces and not everything else like Mattel is doing which is experimenting again with new rails, magnetic couplings, etc. But it’s those robotic semi-retarded and in some cases evil faces (have you seen Mattel’s new Mavis? She looks evil) that are the worst thing to happen to the series.
I think it would be better for them to concentrate on producing quality content for the series itself, rather than constantly changing these secondary elements, which then greatly affects the model trains. I understand the logic: they want to produce something new so that people will buy it, but I’m sure they would buy even more if the content of the TV show itself was great.
