Super at the moment I’ve identified somewhere in the region 620 to 650, so at 210 here so far we’re about a third of the way through them.

Edit 30th May: Actually, it’s turned out to be a bit less than that (and the number is a bit arbitrary when you come to look at HyperCity USA screw-variants of other ones), but not including those, up to the present it’s 592.

Densha de GO! (literally Let’s Go by Train!) is an iconic Taito amusement arcade train simulator, introduced in 1997 and subsequently ported to various other game formats. Along with Space Invaders, it is one of Taito’s most popular and successful games.

Tomica Hyper Rescue are the emergency rescue unit in Tomica Town. They use various vehicles for firefighting and ambulance work, and wear numbers on their backs. (Fig.20, no.6 was a kind of un-formed prototype)

The Tomica Hyper Blue Police are the police force in Tomica Town, They use various crime-fighting vehicles, typically with ‘Sonic’ in their names. The Sonic Runner is a big item in a box, but the HBP0x items came in blister packs like their Hyper Rescue colleagues. These are among the very last items with the blue TOMY logo, they were re-released later (in 2007?) in new square-format blister packs with the white-on-blue TAKARA TOMY logo.

C Mini Tomica Plakids - Cミニトミカプラキッズ

In 2007 and 2008 Takara Tomy collaborated with the candy manufacturer Subarudo to produce thirty different Plakids, each in a little box along with a street sign, attached to a larger box that contained six? pieces of candy and also showed other Plakids in the range. These were sold in the candy section of a number of different supermarket and grocery chains. The thirty Plakids were released in three separate waves, or ‘Volumes’. The same format was used to sell a range of smaller-than-usual Tomica cars, hence the ‘Mini Tomica’ ミニトミカ in the name. The ‘C’ stands for candy, and the word for candy キャンデー is written in tiny characters inside the bottom of the ‘C’.

As well as being released with their respective Tomica Town buildings, 5, 6, and 7 were also included in the Tomica Town Toys’R’Us My Town Sound Intersection DX Set along with 8 & 9, and a T-kun who appears to have a very similar face to the one in Fig.11, but he’s engineered in such a way that the two arms can be moved independently - he’s the one on the right.

I believe that the J-13 lady Miku is the first Plakid to have THAILAND on her back, instead of CHINA.
Nos. 2-5 are the first Plarail Hyper Guardians, the railway-based equivalents of the Tomica Hyper Series.
The three Event Original Plakids each came with a billboard as in the pictures below, and one Tomica Town corner pavement/sidewalk piece. They were distributed at Tomica Expo, the date comes from the packaging, which says the product shown in the photo is as of November 2008. Maybe it didn’t appear until 2009? It is assumed that the Event Staff female was distributed at the same event.
