Just a bit of fun. 3D-printed rails to fit on the side fence.
In the old days the rails were 2″ wide, then 50mm, now 45mm. That’s wide enough for blue plastic track and most trains. However the trains have a great deal of side play and can easily snag the edges of the fence palings unless the track is perfectly positioned. Hence the Real Class type sleepers. Also I am happier about leaving replaceable home-made track outside than original Plarail.
I had intended the line to run along the bottom rail which is level rather than the middle one which slopes towards the street but, of course, children know best and the upper one allows the trains to race backwards under gravity. Discussions are on-going.
