This post could go anywhere, but it does show a few of my printed creations, also some printed track pieces referenced elsewhere on BPT.
Some intergenerational fun. Obviously we are better at making trains than making videos.
The layout has several key items 3D-printed. E.g. large radius points (Thingiverse), auto-switches at the turn-back loops (BPT), short filler pieces, sex change pieces and sections of realistic track with rails and sleepers of my design.
The trains are mainly second-hand Thomas family or modern Japanese models (You can guess who chose the pink Shinkansen last time she was in Japan). All the rest are 3D-printed toys or models to my design. You can find them, and other people’s Plarail creations, on Thingiverse.
We had the usual range of smashes, mainly due to incorrect switch settings. Being on the floor means no damage. I have since redesigned the front wheels of the white box cab loco so that it now obeys Plarail points. Added coins inside at the front also help.
The layout lasted for three days until grandma wanted her floor back.
This effort makes me appreciate the high class of Mister No’s videos.
