Hi everyone,

I must confess I'm not a train buff or anything I'm simply here to get some good info on the thomas track master trains/sets. My son is nearly 3 and insanely into thomas and all things to do with trains so our collection of trackmaster sets is just continually building... I like to tinker and have pulled the simple trains apart a few times for cleaning of fluff etc because they drive over every surface in our house lol and get quite loaded.

I'm wondering if anyone knows what RPM the standard motors run at, this is in all the newer models not the older generations, as our oldest train would only be a year old.

I do enjoy trying to make up different tracks for him. I am toying around with a voltage increase, have ordered a 4x aaa battery pack awating arrival and maybe a motor swap in 1 of his trains as he has some doubles - nothing expensive just as a bit of added fun for him and myself when we have hallway races 🙂

also just curious if you can buy the motor orger gear anywhere? I see you can buy rubber wheel inserts, new linkages, but haven't come across the gears usually just surf ebay.

Hello and welcome to BPT. We look forward to hearing more about your train endeavors and just for the record...a lot of us said the same thing about not being a train buff until we have kids and grandchildren that draw us in.

yes sorry haha I wrote it all then started searching through the forum and thought the same thing I should have put the Q's where they belonged.

So, your collection is currently only Trackmaster Revolution trains? With dark grey track and spiky traction tires?
I don't really know much about modding yet or gears and motors, but I'm a bit curious: by rubber wheel inserts, do you mean traction tires? I didn't even know Trackmaster ever had repair parts. Especially the new ones... I thought Mattel was too cheap to supply with repair parts... Either way, the new traction tires seem to be quite sturdy, unlike the new couplings.

yup just the new versions dark grey track that's the 1. it looks like they just those spikey tyres just stretch and fit in but haven't required any yet i could b looking at the wrong thing on ebay haha. those couplings are terribly weak. my son obviously is heavy handed with them and while he hasn't broken any they all have weak white stretch marks appearing where they'll soon snap. the internals are very simplistic.
