ripley802 So this is a combination of a few different lots (6) total from FromJapan as well as a couple eBay purchases from a Japan seller as well. I was shocked to come home and find the eBay package on my door step and a note to go and pick up the FromJapan box, as it was quite large. See below: At any rate, the eBay purchase was the two Dianey trains (Toy Story and Parade). These are ones I have been watching for some time since getting the Minnie Sweeta train awhile back. Finally found them for a reasonable price so I pulled the trigger. Next up we have track lot. This had the double turnout track switches which is why I purchased. What I did not realize is that it did not have the small half curves which have special connectors. I can still use these if connecting them together but if anyone sees the curves, let me know. It was only 100¥ so that's why I snagged it. Next up is the very "pink" Postpet Enoden set. As mentioned in my other thread this is one that I have been trying to get for awhile now. I am happy to report my daughter loves it. 😃. Although only played with it for about 2 minutes. Not pink, but purple, which was also a hit. 😃 Finally.... The piece de resistance.. Well my favorites so far from this lot of things. First is the D51-200 boxed set. This thing is awesome. If you do not have one and have a chance to get one, get it. The steam and the steam engine sounds are awesome. Also I picked up the D51-498, although no box, I was still excited to get this one. The 498 I like a tad bit more as it seem to run raster and sounds a bit clearer. Both though were very clean and ran/steamed well. Well I think that is all for now. If anyone is wondering, the shipping for this lot FromJapan was quite expensive. If you are thinking of purchasing a large lot or multiple lots I can give some more input through a PM on what it cost me and what the weight/dimensions were etc... Side note. Plarail Ryan is on order and I am planning on getting the Disney Musical Parade set soon.
Super Fantastic Ripley, I am so excited for you. And wow...a complete Postpet Enoden set with Plakids and the surf board with sail, magnificent.
DalaGStanator Wonderful purchases. I actually quite like the Toy Story train, though it would've been better if they recreated the train from Toy Story 3 like LEGO did. The double track switches are also quite interesting, and if you had those male-female connector pieces, you could've connected them the way you arranged them in this photo (though they do allow for some interesting layout sections). That transparent pink track looks really strange. I had no idea there was a set like that (definitely not surprised your daughter likes it). Does the grey track originally belong to that D51 set? If it does, it looks awesome compared to the generic blue type that everyone has. I just wish they made a better style of reinforced power connectors, because these almost completely ruin the look of any item that uses them (especially with the tender being too far from the engine in this case. How are the driver and fireman supposed to shovel the coal like that?). Have to say that was a lucky day for you, Ripley.

This is really the first grey track I have other than the platform type track. I would agree on the connectors. Having repaired several of the Real Steam Thomas engines as well as Rocky, I know the wires can snap inside very easily. Having the 50 phrase talking engines, it would be great if they could make th real steam like those. Those have a powered engine and the tender/coach is the talking piece with it's own set of batteries, etc... I agree, was very lucky to get these lots, and that they arrived on the same day was a bonus.
Nigels Nice collection there Mr Ripley, really love the steam loco's and nice to hear they run nicely, now I'll have to look our for some for myself lol! Also surprisingly I love the incredibly almost radioactive PINK set, I could live with one of those also, now if they could only make a flourescent green one to go with it and who would need highs lol!!! P.S. Don't forget a video soon or else AC wll say your thread is a waste of time 😉
sunhuntin nigels, they do make bright green semi translucent track, though its not as toxic bright as the pink. i love that post pet set. must try and track one down for a decent price. love the grey track, too. quite different.
ripley802 Just ordered my latest shipment FromJapan. Should be here next week. Of course there are a few TnA items but a couple other cool things I found. Side note. I received my Platail Ryan the other day. Once again I was amazed at the difference in quality from the TMR Ryan and the Platail version. Pictures to come soon. 😃

sinkillerj Thanks to this post I now have the So-net theme stuck in my head, clearly those commercials are working: Joking aside these are some really nice sets, I'm always on the lookout for grey tracks so its nice to know about that set, now if only I could find some grey slopes for a non insane price. Had no idea pink track existed, heck I had no idea translucent existed period outside of the Plarail Expo track.

Pictures to come soon. 😃 What happened to these ones Mr Ripley, did you ever post comparison pics of the two Ryans? Just curious really to see them to spot the differences 🙂 BTW - Don't know if you saw it yet, but in my search for my own D51-498 which I've not managed to find yet I did find and win an 'O gauge' remote controlled D51-498 - absolutely awesome find 😃
ripley802 Still waiting on it to ship. The shipping bill was a hard pill to swallow, but then again it always is. I will try and get some pics of the Ryan's unless someone already had done a review/pics of them. I put the TMR one back in the box as I was not using it. I saw a d51-498, I meant to tell you but completely forgot. It did not have the box or anything though. I will stay on the look out for you. I saw the R/C one you received, that is awesome. Great finds.

Great finds. No worries about the Ryan's I was just curious to see what the differences were, since I started branching out in the pandora's box called japanese railway modelling I've found so many other interesting things I've been neglecting the Thomas range. So much so that I think I'll keep my new ones and best examples of used that I don't have new of and sell off the rest at some point (i.e. when I get time lol). The ones that most interest me at the moment are the Bandai Train B Shorty's and my latest interest the Konami DigiQ's - another system from 2002 that was discontinued in 2005 but is just so advanced that even now I don't think there's anything to compare to it...
ripley802 Well, still waiting on the shipment I alluded to earlier, which should arrive in a few days. That said, I told myself, NO MORE buying, and what did I go and do... Well you know the rest. Although this is something I had been looking for to go with the recent addition of the Postpet Enoden and the Purple Plarail train I had picked up. Any guesses...? Anything...? Helloooo Kitty.. 😃 (Not the full set, but the train looks complete and in good shape with the 4 characters. ). And.... The best part, it was only 500¥ (~ $4 US), before shipping and fees of course. That is it, I swear... No more Japan auctions.. Lol.. :s
Nigels I believe you Mr Ripley, for at least 24 hours lol!! 😃 Nice train though, don't see so many of those about even on Jauce, either people really like them or are too ashamed to list them and admit they bought it lol!

Haha. Yeah that is true. Received my latest shipment FromJapan. Knowing what I paid for the items and then shipping I am a little disappointed but still some good items. First up. The 65th Anniversery edition Thomas set. There is no box but Sir Topem Hat is there which is a plus. Next we have basically some junk or um well parts. With exception to the triples one trucks which are in nice shape, the trains are all a bit rough. Next is Diesel 10 with troublesome trucks. This one was welcomed as I had yet to acquire D10's matches trucks. Also we have Thomas Pulling Sir Topem Hat (not sure on the name of this set): Even though I have two of these now I still love it. Needs a replacement battery terminal and tires, but is in nice shape, TnA Toby. Also picked up another front hook Dodge for my second TnA D10 set I picked up on eBay a few weeks back. And finally. I alluded to this in another thread regarding the new Disney Nemo/Dory trains, but here it is. I picked up two clear freight cars. My thought was to do one for each set and have either sand/water or maybe another character from the movie in side the car. I had bid on a lot that had an additional 8 of these but lost.
Super Nice score Ripley. I like Thomas's 60th Anniversary Coach and can't wait to see what you come up with for the clear coaches. Sure takes away from the fun with the cost of EMS shipping from Japan going up and add in the exchange rate has returned to even for the Yen to USD. I am on hiatus from purchases from the Auctions in Japan and have limited my purchases to Hobby Search and Ebay for now.
