Contrary to what the Main Page says in the new design, we aren't a "Thomas only" forum and there are boards for discussing all forms of toy/model trains. Indeed, you have found a great place for advice on modding, scratchbuilding and collecting.
Regarding the Sodor Construction Company: I made cardboard models of Jack and Alfie with plastic wheels, hot glue faces and a plastic arm for the latter, but they're out of scale and not meant for TOMY/TM road. Looking forward to seeing what you plan to do with them.
