I’ll revive this because I do things to my trains now.
As you know, I bought a lot of second-hand Plarail cars, because it’s cheap. Therefore, many of them will be the old type from a decade ago or more. Some got taken cared of well, others,… it’ll be almost Dr. Yellow like the pic below. Or got drawn.

So I tackle these supposed-to-be pure white cars first. I did 8 because I don’t have time to do the whole collection, also it’ll get crowded on my paint mat. Full 3-car N700, 3-car 700, and one H5 and one E3-0 (both middle cars).
I masked all other details, leaving just the white parts, and just use a normal lacquer spray paint for now.
Here they are, fully covered in white paint.

Some comparisons with existing still-good Plarail cars. I think the paint does a good job.
H5 original (left) and Spraypainted H5 (right).

Spraypainted E3-0 (left) and original E3-0 (right). Notice the very visible yellowing under Komachi logo sticker

Spraypainted 700. The very visible yellowing between the blue stripes. I don’t think I can get a matching blue, nor would I want to tape over the entire car just for that, so it’s there.

And here’s the fully spraypainted N700 and 700. It’s just as good as new, and I don’t have to think about yellowing any more.
