Motorized Tomica World cars advice

I recently bought 2 Motorized Tomica World cars that are still bnib... I don't know when they were released, but I am assuming that they are fairly old. I am concerned that they say "batteries included" on the box!! Do you think I should sacrifice the packaging to get those old batteries out of them before they corrode ruin the cars?( if they're not already ruined)
Does anyone know when they released?

Well because they are tomica world cars and the tomica world line lasted from 1998-2002 according to the thomas wiki. It depends if you want to take them out or not of the package. I dont think theyre that rare as they are a wide spread release and arnt any rare special edition. Then again if you compare these nib tomica world cars to the NIB tomica world thomas trains and how much they go for they could be worth leaving in the box. As with the corroded batteries i think they wouldve corroded by now. Just judging that the batteries in my thomas trains took 2 years to corrode and since these could be at least 16 years old i think they would be corroded by now. But its up too you, if it was me id leave them in the box as theres just too much risk in opening them and seeing if they would be corroded. Then again i could be wrong and the battery terminals are fine. It entirely up too you

My thoughts exactly when I bought several of these and anything else that comes with batteries already installed. I have left all the new ones I have in their package but I have duplicates of those and more that aren't in their packaging to play with. I really don't understand why manufacturers of anything, place the batteries in the compartment while packaging. If they want to include batteries its much better for them to be separate, wrapped in plastic. If they aren't going to do this then I would prefer them not even including them

Well I guess we're gonna take our chances and open one up! My only other advisor is a kid named Tully, and he seem pretty set on finding out! Lol 🙂

maybe see if theres a way you can release the glue without ripping, like steaming it open. then you at least get to keep the nice cardbacks. fingers crossed they arent corroded!!

If you open one, might as well open both, just because one isn't leaking doesn't mean the other isn't, even if they were made at exactly the same time. Hi Tully! 🙂

You'll probably find the batteries will have a plastic spacer to stop them working until its removed. As such the odds are the batteries will be ok unless subjected to damp as they are unlikely to corrode unless they have discharged...

My thoughy exactly since the retailers dont know how long they have to keep the inventory. Since there is no hole for "try me" button on the car. I am pretty sure there is something protecting thr battery.

Uf i remember correctly theae motorize cars uses special batteries.

I would slice the bubble with a craft knife then reseal it again with sticky tape, it is justifiable to save them from damage.
