that's waaaaaaaaaaaay to much for a decoration piece.
i still don't quite get the fascination with this site. but to each their own i guess. maybe one day i'll choose to investigate it further.

anyways, i'm actually making a special trip to nyc. i'm going to see if i can find this. but i cannot find much info on it.

did this come with a set? or sold independently? does anyone have a picture with the box it came in? a year of release or manufacture date?

i think its quite old, which is the reason for the price. would have been released late 70s, at a guess? i dont know much about it, but i do know it gets mentioned here now and then.

1970's too early. got to be 90's. maybe maybe 80's but i doubt it.

This only appears a couple times a year on the Japan Auctions and I have see it go upwards of $300 for this lovely piece so this was actually a great price and its in excellent condition. In the picture below you will see that the packaging has the old "Hikari no Mark" Logo which was only used between 1973 & 1977. I believe it is also known as the University of Tokyo tunnel of Rhea.

BTW....I was second place on the bidding for this item.

The years are because of the Logo used, I have no exact research of the release year.

Ah! I see now that a late variation of this Logo was also used between 80 & 85. I sure would like to see pictures of a catalog from those early years. Might your friend like to share or at least a picture of the page that shows this tunnel?

here is the other year. not sure which is '84 or '85
