How do you plan to make Fergus from an Emily? I assume the large wheels and rear coupling will be the only parts from her and he will turn out somewhat like this (made by TTN1GWR):

Yours should have the front wheels a bit closer to the smokebox and (of course) a shorter funnel, but that's my prediction. If only there were a good way to power driving wheels in other diameters.

2/24/21 Update

Not much has happened since the last update.

Stanley:
Restoration Job finally finished and he's back on the shelf with the other engines.

Arthur, Bill, & Ben:
All three of them have had their whistles properly painted up, something I had been pushing off since the last update due to not having the time to paint them (it was very late.)

2/25/21 Update

Fergus:
Fergus had his front wheel moved forward, and was shortened down to size at the front end, his buffer beam was also moved back and refitted to the chassis with Superglue.

Looks like you're already "doing it right" at the moment. How difficult was it to rebuild Emily's chassis to suit him?

I didn't recall you having Wooden Railway as well. Are you using the Wooden Fergus for reference only, or will parts from it be used on the custom? If so, I'd rather the whole smokebox be carrried over and not only the face. I'd also suggest you take a battery truck (with a switch) from an old Talking/RC engine, fit a motor (not drive unit) to Fergus and wire him to it so he could be loco driven. Ideally a grey one with stones like the one from early FP Talking Thomas.

@laG rebuilding his chassis wasn't hard, it was just annoying as parts had to be fixed in with glue and held in with tape while the glue dried.

Originally I wanted to do that with the battery truck and motor like Emily, but I don't think I'll go through with that idea since I'm building Fergus' main body almost entirely from scratch for him to be more proportionate and in scale with Thomas. Instead, I'll probably get one of those motorized trucks from Plarail or give a regular plank truck a motor to give Fergus some sort of motive power.

Anyways onto the 2/27/21 Update

Fergus:

Fergus' main chassis was basically completed, quite a bit of cut-away plastic was used to help fill in some of the gaps. Additionally, a bit of it was used to fit the front wheel into place correctly so it would be level with his drive wheel.

A bit of plastic had to be shaved from what was left of the runningboard to allow for clearance on the rear bufferbeam.

Top of Fergus:

A proper way to hold the two pieces in together aswell as that front wheel still needs to be worked out, it'll probably be a long screw that goes through once everything is fitted in correctly.

I also would've worked on the Locomotive Driven Emily today, however I'm gonna push her off for another week or two due to other pressing matters at hand right now.

I sure am liking what I am seeing Ffar. Question: with the shortened wheelbase I take it he won't have traction rods or are they going to be modified too?

He doesn't have them on the prop. His basis has them but I'm basing Fergus off his appearance in the show.

Blue Circle has coupling rods? I never saw them clearly the whole time, so it must be one of the only steam locos with internal rods.

Unless it's actually a brake, could this be one of them (outlined in yellow)?

I'm referring to the cylinder on the boiler with a coupling rod connected to a mechanism powering it's flywheel.

That makes much more sense because other traction engines have it (except it's concealed on Trevor, George, Buster and Fergus). Turns out the part I outlined does move while the loco is running, but only ever so slightly and not like a coupling rod. Now that I've seen how the actual rod operates, it's more similar to the ones Rocky has to power his arm.

Roof, face, and buffer beams all fully repainted to fix the paint loss.

--- Face repainted to match its appearance during the 3rd Series
-- Buffer beams airbrushed with Testors enamel Gloss Red

Diesel 10:
Face repainted to fix paint loss.
-- Face handpainted with Apple Barrel acrylic Dolphin Grey
--- Face repainted to resemble a Fisher-Price Diesel 10

Splatter:
Face repainted to match up with Diesel 10 and Dodge
-- Face handpainted with Apple Barrel acrylic Dolphin Grey
--- Face repainted to match what could've been Fisher-Price Splatter

Dodge:
Face and body shell repainted to fix paint loss.
-- Face handpainted with Apple Barrel acrylic Dolphin Grey
--- Face repainted to resemble a Fisher-Price Splatter
-- Body repainted for the second time with Testors enamel Flat Green

That face color looks to be perfect and I love how Diesel 10 turned out as he looks even more menacing than his original expression. Nice work Ffar 🙂

HOW HAS IT BEEN A MONTH SINCE THE LAST UPDATE WHAT OK.

4/16/21 Update 1

S4 Duncan and Sir Handel:
Really just got tired of waiting to get new ones and knew that if I got replacements these two would go unused and seeing as my Childhood Skarloey and Rheneas were repainted I didn't want to let these two just go to waste sitting doing nothing so I primed them, I plan on painting them later. (Before asking these are Plarails; Sir Handel is a C10 and I don't know about Duncan as his Production Date Sticker was removed a long time ago.

I hope I can get these two done as a weekend project. Slightly unrelated but I am going to be upset if the Duncan prop is revealed after I finish Duncan. (Context: Sir Handel's S4 prop is currently in Preservation with no lighting or filters to mess with the color. I'm going to be upset if Duncan is revealed and I had the paint color wrong because of the lighting filter.)

4/16/21 Update 2

Sir Handel:
Just painted him up with a Blue. I'll have to check what kind and brand it is but he was just painted up in an Acrylic Blue.

I started painting him up in Yellow.
