How to fix track reader on TnA engines?

I've been having trouble with one of my Talk N Action Percy's recently, the reader used to interact with the tracks is only reading some of the tracks rather than all of them but when I apply force, it will read them, anyone know what I need to do to fix it because I have no idea

I am not familiar with the workings of these but you may want to check out the videos of member Powerful Gordon Mike to see if he has addressed this issue and possibly YouTuber Custom Trackmaster also although I am not sure he has fixed one before but worth a shot if no one here can help. Its a good question and one I think others would like to hear a solution for.

Is the metal plate that makes contact with track spring loaded? If so, perhaps it’s as easy as replacing the spring (or perhaps gently tweaking the original spring)? Hopefully it’s not a wiring issue, because the tna trains are tangled with wires! Though if you’re good with a soldering iron, I suppose you wouldn’t be concerned. 🙂 i am decidedly not good with a soldering iron 🙂.

@[deleted] I've put in the spring multiple times in 2 different ways, that doesn't seem to be the problem, it might be but I can't tell until I swap it with a spring from another engine, its not a wiring issue I believe, it might be the metal plate but I'm not sure
