Is Edward Really Worth $80?

Hey everyone. I've been looking for an old style Edward model, and all of the ones I can find are either new for around $200, or not new, but around $80. I was wondering if that's price gouging or is he really that rare somehow? He seems to be going for near-Oliver prices, but he was sold for much longer in more countries. Would anyone be able to help me out with the search (or at least with information)? Thank you!

I'm pretty sure since he was booted off the main cast in 2018 + the added redesign with the standard chassis, sellers realized people are after the older design and started price gouge him because of his demand, popularity, and design. Probably because of the funky wheel design and shorter rods.

As for the question about the price, no, Edward really isn't worth 80 considering he was produced for around 22 years. Added that for some reason whenever engines are discontinued for Plarail, give or take a year they skyrocket. (i.e. Victor, Luke, Dash, & Stanley)

Exactly what Ffar said. All of the old-style Plarail engines have gone up significantly in price ever since they were discontinued. Your best bet is trying Japanese sites such as Yahoo Auctions, but even there it’s not that easy to find them for a cheap price nowadays (though if you look enough you should be able to find something). I’d recommend looking for bulk lots, as they usually have a lot of great items for a good price (that’s how I got all of my pre-redesign engines).

Thanks for your help! I actually found one that came with the S.C.Ruffey and Trucks pack, both in almost-brand-new-looking condition for $100 less than NIB Edward, which I bought.

Japanese auction sites are your best bet if your looking for an old-style plarail edward, you're bound to find one for a LOT cheaper there, it is not worth $80
