I also thought that a addition length of station platform could extend to the right to accommodate all the coaches and passengers.

Do I have this action correct…when a train sits at the station spinning its wheels will not release until a train arrives at the stop light at its rear…then when does the second train release?

Here is the explanation (machine translation):

・How to play with consecutive departure stations
1: The leading car stops at a traffic light, then continues to the station and stops there.
2: When the following car stops at a traffic light, the leading car will automatically depart from the station in tandem.
3: When the leading car departs from the station, the following car will run to the station and stop a few seconds later.
4: After that, when the leading car makes a full circle and stops at a traffic light, the following car will automatically depart from the station in tandem, allowing you to play steps 1 through 4 repeatedly.
・How to play with gear action rails
The gear action rail can be switched between three modes: AUTO, STOP, and GO.
(When playing with two trains, set the switch to AUTO.)
In AUTO mode, the cars will automatically stop and depart.
In STOP mode, the cars will remain stopped. (When set to GO, they will depart.)
In GO mode, the cars will pass through without stopping.
*Plarail vehicles use batteries.
*Two Plarail trains are required to function as consecutive departure stations. (Please play with no more than three cars of each train.)

The Cassiopeia has 4 sleeper cars where I believe past releases had only 2 or 3. I do wish they would have upgraded both the DD51’s chassis with painted hand rails. I really like that they are re-releasing the tandem sets and that PlaKid looks new if he is dressed in black.

This new Cassiopeia is very interesting. If I remember correctly, it previously had only two passenger carriages (the first and last), and now these in the middle have been added. In addition, the electric locomotive that this train came with was not something special to me either. This is a much nicer presentation of that sleeper train.

As for the DD51 tandem, I must point out that this previous train (the one with the large generator that they recently released) has problems with narrow radii, at least in my case. Namely, on the Plarail loop (U-turn) the second DD51 often leans or even derails, and if the locomotives are not hooked to a train (or at least that car with the generator), the front locomotive sometimes derails. I solved the problem by additionally loading the second locomotive with a few coins to make it heavier, but I am surprised that this happens at all on the loop. I have not noticed such problems on other tracks.

Additionally, I note that these Cassiopeia DD51 locomotives will not be exactly the same as the previous ones, as according to the description, this front DD51 uses an AA battery (the previous one, as all DD51s was powered by a C battery).

I would be very interested in seeing the chassis that uses a AA battery for that tandem DD51 but I am suspicious of it possibly being a miss print. Take a look at the official Takara/Tomy web page and all 5 of these new releases shows that each one uses one ‘AAA’ . One triple A….really?

Mr No, I have never had any problems with any tandem releases from Plarail either the DD51’s (of which there are many) or the DE10’s. I assume that your new DD51 has a ‘C’ battery in it. I would be curious to see the problems you are having with the motorized DD51 or its tandem.

Wow! And now official Takara Tomy page is saying new Cassiopeia DD51 will use C battery, that’s more like it…

This is what my DD51 does on a loop with no additional load (I put some coins) in the 2nd locomotive. There were also a couple of derailments.

Wow, haven’t seen that derailments on the ‘U’ Turns but then again I haven’t used the ‘U’ turns that much. I seem to remember there is a new style of U’ turn that is redesigned to prevent this. I will see if I can find it.
I do know that I have used an old trick by Ucwepn where I have used electric model train weights that fir perfectly and allows one to use a AA battery in the DD51’s and DE10’s with no loss of weight and they double as a perfect spacer to hold up the AA battery. Wonder if I can find our leaders video that shows him using this method.

Well, for now, I think I’ve solved the problem by putting extra load in the 2nd locomotive. It remains to be seen how the DD51 tandem will behave on a U-turn when it’s pulling that long train with four Cassiopeia cars…

This is a great solution when you need AA instead a C battery in the leading loco. As for making the dummy loco heavier, I just put a few coins in place of the driver! 😁

I have not had any difficulty as I love the dummies 😆
In fact there is a ‘U’ Turn in this Layout video that had no trouble with a tandem and long rake navigation. Not sure if there is a close up of that, I will watch again to see if there is and snap a pic. At the 2:46 minute mark you can see a Tandem DD51 coming out of the U-Turn with a rake of explosive cars and at the 5:14 mark you can see the same train navigating that ‘U’ Turn in the back. At 9:45 you can see a closeup of a Dual ‘Fat’ C-12 with a rake of ‘Stubby’ Tankers navigate the whole ‘U’ Turn.
