Wow…they even created a different version for this exclusive set. This red set looks to have a different sticker package (unless the planes stickers are factory applied or painted) This red version has ‘Plarail Air’ on its side instead of ‘ANA Inspiration of JAPAN’ as the blue one has.

The Odakyu Romancecar VSE (500000 series) was re-issued in a new window-less box on August 19th.

Originally released as a clip-chassis model as S-37 in 2005, and then in ‘new mechanism’ form in 2017 again as S-37, it has been out of print since 2020 except as the special ‘Thank You and goodbye’ version that appeared at the end of 2022.

This latest edition is available from the Romancecar Museum Shop (TRAINS) and online from Rakuten. I don’t think the actual train in the new box differs from the previous general release version.

In addition to the ANA airport set, October will bring us these (all Oct 24th) :

103 Series Nara Line (Low Cab)

Real Class 205 Series Commuter Train (Saikyo Line)

10 Layouts Basic Kit

20 Layouts Basic Kit, Oct 24th. Some interesting rail parts in this one, including various colour switches, dark blue wide-radius curves, and a curved garter bridge.

Its nice to see that Plarail is still offering track packs. I wonder if they will ever release a track pack with the Real Class tracks. That would be neat….did you hear that Plarail 😛

The Seibu Railway 10000 series (New Red Arrow) and Seibu Railway 10000 series (Red Arrow Classic) will be re-released as Seibu limited editions sometime in ‘winter 2026’, as part of a selection of merchandise to go along with the limited re-introduction of the actual Red Arrow Classic train from 4th October until Spring 2027.

Super

Thanks Dr Chris
You know I can still remember when the gray classic Red Arrow was much sought after, not so easy to find and when you did it had a higher price, if I am correct this release would be the second re-release after the original.

chrisjo Oh I hope that would be the last variant we would see of 100 Series Shinkansen before we can go on to 200 Series.
Regardless, that is a highly needed Real Class set to have as it provides the missing single-decker non-pantograph middle car required for a full 100 Series Shinkansen train set (in standard color, the Grand Hikari has been taken cared of).

Super

Thank you Dr Chris

You could use ordinary (i.e. not Real Class) intermediate cars as well, I suppose.
