Tomica HyperCity USA (TomiKids - 4)

When viewed from the front, the HyperCity USA Tomikids shown below are the same as HyperCity UK Tomi Kids illustrated above , BUT I believe they all differ in that they have those mysterious screws in their backs. I have noted in the descriptions below which ones I have definitely seen the screws in. If anyone has evidence that any of them didn’t have screws, I’d be very glad to see it.

Plarail Taiwan

I said that apart from the HyperCity USA Tomikids, the only Plakid I’ve seen with a screw in its back was from Taiwan. This is the one, along with another Taiwan release that fits in here, and two Taiwan exclusive items that I should have shown earlier in the timeline but I forgot.

1: & 2: Taiwan exclusive Plarail Taroko Super Set, Aug ’11.
It’s identical to the Tomica HyperCity USA version of ‘Papa’; it has the same screw in the back, it has the same gold buttons, and the release date is the same to within a month.

3: The Taroko Super Set was re-issued in Apr ’13, the only change being that Papa was replaced by Mr Magoroku Fig.11 no.8.

The last two are Taiwan exclusive Plakids:

4: Train Crew, Plarail 700T DX Starter Set, Nov ’09.
The Chinese text on the box is 台灣高鐵超級服勤員火車組, which translates to something like ‘Taiwan High Speed Rail Super Service Train Crew’.

Tomica HyperCity USA (TomiHeroes - 1)

By the end of 2011 the original HyperCity USA range was already being heavily discounted. In 2012 the product line-up was completely changed, with the Plakids now called ‘TomiHeroes’, and their item numbers preceded by the letter ‘T’. Exact release dates are uncertain, but nearly everything was listed online by Jul ’12, and the last known item, T70693 Search and Rescue Starter Set appeared on Black Friday, 23rd November 2012.

Every item in the revised range (except for two track packs) included at least one TomiHero, and every TomiHero was an original design except for just one. They do not have screws in their backs. All the TomiHeroes are anonymous, the names given below are just for reference.

A sniffer dog has joined the Hyper Rescue team. They have been given new silver helmets and the named members have colored bands on them. They no longer have badges on their jackets, the numbers that they had on their backs before have been replaced by their names.
