Tomica HyperCity UK
Tomica HyperCity launched in the UK in July 2010. The individual products were described in another BPT discussion, with the product names used on the Tomy UK and Toys’R’Us UK websites - the boxes themselves only have numbers - and the evidence for the probable release dates that I have given here. The 24 kids in Tomica HyperCity (UK) are called Tomi Kids.
Some Tomica HyperCity (UK) Tomi Kids are original (7), some are modified versions of earlier Plarail or Tomica designs (12), and some are identical to earlier Plarail and Tomica ones (5). To complicate matters further, Tomica HyperCity launched in the USA a few months later, sharing some kids with Tomica HyperCity (UK), and generating more original designs of their own.
The 12 modified Tomi Kids are items from the Tomica Hyper Blue Police (6) and Plarail Hyper Guardian (5) ranges, but with their helmet badges changed to read ‘THR’ instead of ‘HBP’ or ‘HG’. Also, one Plakid from the Tomica Hyper Rescue range has had a ‘THR’ badge added to his plain white helmet (pre-dating the addition of helmet badges to all the Tomica Hyper Rescue Plakids a few months later). The printed logos or numbers that some of the originals had on their backs has been removed.
I will start by showing the new and modified Tomi Kids associated with the launch of Tomica HyperCity in the UK (and Western Europe).
