Yeah, this is a ride on they’ve had this for a while but they painted it gold for the 80th and to possibly coincide with the plarail gold Thomas .

There is nothing there about a Plarail Golden Thomas, and there don’t seem to be any videos from the show yet. The one in your picture is a bit bigger than OO scale, it’s a ride-on attraction.

MuddyPoppins Well, ruby is for the 80th anniversary of Mattel, not for Thomas. But still, the golden Thomas doesn’t look as good as the old metallic Golden Thomas.

An 80th Anniversary is celebrated with a ruby.
1st & 50th anniversary’s are gold.

Is AEG plarail done we have barley got anything for plarail AEG in a while . But we did get the talking engines. So what’s gonna happen?

I honestly see some new Percy wagon pack and the new plarail TS-18 and TS-23 . Possiblely some item for the gold range such as an Owigawa Thomas rerelease .

As I have stated earlier Duck is popular according to the poll so I could see him get released as TS-18 . However, I would not be surprised if it was a variant which I am pretty sure it will be possibly a paint spattered Thomas or LBSC Thomas . I doubt they would do 2 new engines so Duck and a Thomas variant . But honestly that’s hopeful thinking as I am sure it will be 2 varients . Pink James could be nice I guess .

MuddyPoppins Both Mattel and Thomas are celebrating 80th years in 2025. Mattel not only released Thomas in this ruby style, but also did for other products such as Barbie or UNO.

Super Yes. The Metallic Collection Ruby Thomas has a metallic red footplate, a metallic gold whistle and metallic silver hopper cars and siderods. The cargo (the rubies) are painted in metallic red too

I finally found this. It shows both the sign on the blue wall and the golden Thomas train on the circle line, both matching the images in the original X post above (note for example the rails in the display layout secured by shiny screws). It was taken at the current event at Sunshine City by an ordinary paying visitor:

Thanks Master Researcher, I have been waiting for something else than the same two pictures making its rounds around the Internet. I am still not convinced fully until I see something from Plarail, a box or release date and price. That sign is awfully small and high on the wall to be noticed especially since that layout doesn’t show that train only. Something really seems off to me but I have been wrong before but I would think this would have generated much more talk, articles and videos than what it has.

There are now a number of short videos from the event to choose from, but almost every one just shows a small kid with its mother playing with soft and bouncy AEG toys. I doubt many Plarail fans will have attended, but I too am surprised by the apparent silence from the Japanese Thomas community.

I seriously doubt we’ll see Plarail release anymore new characters since the Thomas range has cut so many corners recently. Almost everything they’ve released this year has reused existing molds/pieces, with the exception of the RWS Thomas’s face, which is a very small piece.
The only new toolings we’ve gotten from Plarail Thomas have been for the All Engines Go toys, and even then those use a standardized chassis

You need to read @Shiokaze_Do’s responses to the comments below to get a fuller picture. Only accepting payment by cash is a fairly well-known way to deter anyone under about 50 these days, but there are also some stranger ideas being floated about there! I don’t doubt that sales are declining and prices are increasing generally though, as with pretty much everything at the moment.
