Hi all, we've all had good and bad experiences with sellers. Post the bad sellers here so others can be forewarned. 🙂 Can include poorly packed for postage, overcharging for postage, bad/broken items etc. Will update this first post with a list of the sellers and the allegation.

hate to sound smug, but i dont recall having issues with any sellers on ebay or other site. just lucky so far, as my buying record is much smaller than many others [only about 50 on ebay, and 300 on the new zealand equivalent]

This isn't tomy but I got a collectiors editon of best or Percy and it's said it would come with train instead the seller gave me a second best of Percy and a free Wooden 2015 ben

The only bad experiences I've had with UK Ebay sellers have been with one-off deals where Mum or Dad are selling off the kids' toys, and the condition has been worse than expected, or the stuff arrives caked with congealed baby-food and stuffed with chewing-gum or melted sweets. In one case I believe the photos had been enhanced/doctored.

All the 'dealers' I've bought from have been fine; sometimes the postage seems a little high - but not if you factor in materials, fuel, time, etc., which you have to do when you're running a business.

The only bad experiences I had were when I bought a hello kitty travel bag off amazon, it comes with a big laundry bag, a money bag and a small cosmetic bag but when it came in the mail the laundry bag it came was so small. Also, it was poorly packaged too and the cosmetic bag it came was so big.
Another bad experience was when I got the train table off Walmart the track risers looked so easy to fall off and the play board it came scratched.

Oddly enough, I was just thinking about this thread. I was going to search for it and just forgot, but saw it so I figured I would post my recent expierence.

So I saw a trackmaster Rocky listed on eBay. It was at $9.99 and like $3 shipping. The seller reported that they were not sure it took a battery, which seemed odd, seeing as how it has a switch on top, and the fact there is a screw on the back cover. Anyway it looked to be in decent shape in the pictures so with only a few min left I bid and won.

I received it and immediately found that part of the cab of Rocky was broken clean off. I went back and looked at the very last picture and noticed it. I thought about keeping it for parts, but looked in the battery compartment only to find it was heavily corroded. I contacted the seller, and advised I would like to return it or ask for a partial refund. The seller was very aggressive and rude, and said I would not get anything and they would not be refunding, etc.

I filed for a return, and to my surprise the seller accepted it. So I shipped it out, and the other day received notification that the seller received it back. Then I get another nasty message from the seller saying they were shocked that I would damage the item and send it back in horrible condition, etc... I was flag out in shock my self. I mean really, you send me a piece of junk, then say I damaged it? Well we went back and forth through messages, and eventually the seller told me if I sent another message they were going to contact the local PD to report cyber crime..WhAT..... Unbelievable. I knew I would lose sleep over this one and it would be stressing me out awaiting eBays decision, so if decided to close the case. I left the seller negative feedback and called it a day.

While the seller did have a picture of the damage in the very last picture, I missed due to bidding in a hurry and only looking at th main and second picture. Nothing was mentioned of the damage in the listing either. Moral of the story.. Look at ALL pictures and ask any and all questions you can think of. Some sellers are just plain rude. :blush:

Yeah, I know. Nothing like that was said/done, but the $12 for me was not worth all the drama and time. Would rather spend my time contributing here.. 😃

You should at least name and shame in case any of our other members are silly enough to buy from this seller 🙂

True, the sellers if was teacher33188. Looking through past feedback for them it looks like they sell quite a bit of Thomas stuff, and I found a couple feedback that mentioned some bad remarks.

Hello everyone, here is a heads up for any members who may ever encounter this CREEP...the punkiest of punks... literally the worst, most unprofessional, mean spirited, cruel, and otherwise nastiest human being that I have ever had the displeasure of ever communicating with...eBay seller: sold2wolf (Stockton Ca.)
Not only does he mislead and lie, but he goes out of his way to be rude, snarky, and seems to take great pleasure in taunting responses... I have dealt with a few very sour apples over the years before on eBay, but this guy IS, and takes all time honors as the absolute WORST eBay SELLER ever!!

Thanks for the heads-up! It's a shame there are sellers out there like this, but hopefully others set a better example for everyone else.

I second this, as I was dealing with this seller as well. While not having the expieence that Muddy had, mine was also pretty bad.

If you ever purchase stuff from ebay, don't buy them from seller, mardavimarco. I got a shipment of tomy trains the other day. The seller basically threw everything a box without any shrink wraps or papers to protect the items bouncing around. To make things worse, he left a battery inside one of the train and left the switch in the "ON" position. Not surprisingly, the motor is fired. When I contacted the seller, he made me run around and telling to watch my tone. All i said to him was the motor doesn't work. When I open the case, he offered a refund but didn't pay for the return label. I decided to keep the item since I doubt he will ever reimburse me. So I gave him a negative rating.

Did you file a claim that the item "Was Not As Described"? I beleive either Ebay makes the Seller pay for the return shipping or Ebay gives you a full refund including shipping and you get to keep the items.

I filed a claim. Ebay only allowed me to return the package for full refund. I have to pay the postage first before a full refund. Given his track record, i rather take the loss. I offered a partial refund but he didn't respond.

I guess its hard to file a "Not as Described" claim when the only words in the description are "See pics for details" and nothing else...nothing, is hard to prove. Thats all they had in the description...really. Nothing about shipping or payments or anything about the seller or the items they are selling raises the hair on the back of my neck. What a tool and there are a lot of them out there.

Good thing the chassis is compatible to othera trains i own. I can swap it if needed

This story wasn't necessarily bad, just a little annoying. Back in 2019 or early 2020 (before covid) I had found a Tomy Thomas & Cranky deluxe action set (https://thomasmotorized.fandom.com/wiki/Thomas_and_Cranky_Deluxe_Action_Set) which I'm pretty sure is complete up for auction on ebay. I won the set for Aud$35 (USD$25.06/18.51 British pounds) and I think the postage was free. The seller (who I don't remember the name of) took about a week or two to post it. According to the seller the reason was because the seller was moving.
