For context, in the state where I live, there a is a chain of large op shops called 'The mill market' and there are 3 locations across the state (They are all over an hour's drive from me and I also think a fourth location is going to be opened somewhere). Anyway, this story took place early last year or in 2020 between the Covid lockdowns. I was at one of the locations and in a cabinet, the was a Tomy Stepney (the Stepney in my profile picture in fact), his truck and breakvan, Splatter the coach that had 2 of the same coupler and another piece of rolling stock (there was no dodge) and a plastic box of track (Stepney & Dodge both had their original boxes). I only got stepney because he was the only one I could afford at the time. When I got home I found out the gear on the driven axle had split and was spinning on the axle. I ended having to take the wheels off the axle. I ended up using the axle of a 2009 Trackmaster Percy. The thing is, the tag that had the price on it said nothing about the split gear and probably would have at least tried to get a discount if I knew about the split gear. On the bright side though, I did get a working for reasonably cheap (I'm not sure about other countries, but where I live Tomy stepneys can be more than going to a hobby shop and buying a brand new DC Hornby terrier)
Thanks for reading. Sorry if this isn't the right thread but it seems the most fitting.
