After a pretty long break. I happy to say that some more progress has been made to the CADs, hopefully now meaning I can actually be satisfied with them, or at leas with the brake third as that is the only one I’ve currently done the changes to.
I always thought something might be off with the look of the vehicles and recently I figured out that the shape of the ends was far from Ideal, especially on the brake as all GNR brake and NPCSs have a different profile and are slightly thinner to account for the extra with provided by the duckets. passenger brakes are especially challenging as the profile of the sides changes between ends with the ducket being the place for the conversion. changing the ends also means redoing the roofs so I took the opportunity to revamp the profile which resulted in a massive improvement! Other changes that took place were increasing the size of the top footboards, adding insets on the inside of the body for easier fitting of glazing, additional clips in the center to avoid warping, adding the missing lamp above the guards compt., moving the locating holes for the end handrails to the outsides of the panels, adding the correct detail to the side of the roof and creating the wheel inserts (used to represent the wooden centers of the original wheels)
All these mods have made me think to reprint all the vehicles, but I’ve decided to just go ahead with the ones I’ve already started, provided that the kinematic coupling actually function, because if not, I’ll just start from scratch.
