Awesometrain77 Plarail Gold which is different from the regular line up .

In case anyone is tempted to quote this on the grounds that “I read it on BPT”, I’m sure that @Awesometrain77 would be the first to admit that it’s pure speculation on his part. If Plarail fans in Japan haven’t yet figured out what’s going on with this recent new branding, it’s not likely that we’ll be adding any extra insight at the moment.

Well this speculation can be seen by looking at the box . As we have yet to see the current logo fade away and we are still getting new products in the current logo and box style .
Plarail gold has a very similar box style to plarail real class . I have no clue what the purpose of plarail gold is going to be .

However this is all speculation don’t take all of words as fact

My point was that ‘Plarail Gold’ is not a thing, though it will suffice as a description for the boxes with the new logo for the time being. I note that ‘Tomica Gold’ as we could call it has also begun to creep in at the same time.

@ Super & Chris: I think I understand why they didn’t use Real Class tracks in the Overpass Station and Overpass Kit. I have an earlier version of that station (with the red roof, which I actually like better than this new brown one), and as a second track next to that station, it’s not possible to place Real Class track, unless you cut off some of the sleepers that prevent the track from being placed right next to the station. The sleepers (or rather the ends of them) make the Real Class track a little wider than the standard Plarail track. I’m curious to see how this affects some other Plarail scenery elements…

The Nori Nori Express train’s box is different but I can’t help to remember its shape from something else. I am surprised this isn’t released under the ‘Best Selection’ series as the train uses the exact same mold as the Red Fliner train used in the 60th Anniversary Best Selection Set, the first in the series, released in July of 2019. Exact…except they opted to color in the front wind screen with silver paint. The original had a clear one where you could see the driver inside….. …hmmm, I wonder if he is still there but can’t see him? I do prefer the clear one but wished the driver could have been easily removed. Also the Red Fliner had clear headlights where this new one looks to be painted silver too.

I am curious as the Listing in Hobby Search says that pre-orders started this past June 30th but I don’t recall this being discussed before. Or this could be due to the decline of my brains neurotransmitters ☹

No we didn’t really discuss it. The release news above (post #115, 30th June) prompted some comments about the Pla-kids, but not about the train itself.

Thank you Dr Chris for that Cab picture as it motivates me to take a closer look at my Fliner to see if the driver just slips into that roundish slot and I might be able to remove him.

I do like that new gold Plarail logo but there is something to be said about the nostalgia of the original.

That middle wheel is causing me a little too much pain, I mean why does it have to be soooooo far off the rails!

And the tender is just a box, though on the hall class they got away with the tender driven part as it actually looked decent, here it looks incredibly lame

Thanks for the info T-Real. Its is nice to see these colabs coming from Plarail. I always like to see brand new stuff from Plarail buuuttt……why another Tender Driven, Push. train? Also I can’t tell for sure if the Delorian is included. And what does it say about these Wood fired Smoke Stacks? I don’t think there is anything in the set that I would purchase any for just because its Tender drive. It is a nice set though and I hope that Plarail continues with the Movie colabs maybe Raiders of the Lost Ark but I guess it would have to be a movie that features a train. Any ideas from the membership that you would like to see a colab with? This colab is with Universal as was the Jurassic World ones but the Hogwarts Express was Warner Brothers…….which was Polar Express. Could they be preparing to fry us with a Polar Express? One can Dream. Maybe a Orient Express is due?

@Super - Much like the old Benkei, it has a smokestack that’s too tall to go under ‘some scenery’, so they give you an alternative shorter one as well. And yes, the Delorean is included, in the contents list it’s described as the ‘time machine (Tomica)’.

Release date 18th October.

Do I have to have these Pla-kids?

Thanks for the translation Dr Chris. I will bet there will be a lot of custom builders that would love to see those removable smoke stacks for their custom built projects/
